With the far reaching implications of the pandemic, many of us are feeling more disconnected than ever before. From our friends, from our families, from our parish and perhaps even from God. And yet as we’re learning in this series, it is through our unity that we’ll be able to stand as a witness to the world. So how do you find connection in a time like this?
At SPX, we believe that small groups are the key to making our big church more personal. In a small group, we connect with others who support and care for us in difficult times, and challenge us to grow as we walk together in faith. In fact, when the shutdowns first happened in March, almost all of our groups switched to meeting online within the first two weeks, and some even continued to meet during the summer when normally groups take a break from regular weekly meetings. Why did they continue? Because our small group members have found that the support their groups provide are helping them to navigate all this uncertainty and change way better than they could going it alone.
We are excited about some changes we are making to our small groups this Fall - we'll have more info about that and how to sign up next week. So while groups may look different, we believe that now more than ever that life is better connected.
