Dear beloved parishioners of Saint Pius X,
About 17 years ago I was diagnosed with a blood cancer of my bone marrow called Multiple Myeloma. It has stayed quiet until recently. In layman's language my "smoldering MM" has now "caught fire". On March 10 I will begin four months of treatments, including chemotherapy. Then I probably will have a bone marrow transplant in early summer. The goal is to get me into remission for many years. Unfortunately, this means I will not be able to be with you at Masses from May until October. So, I thank you for your prayers and your support. I will keep Father Mike Jones informed. I also plan to set up a Caring Bridge where you can check on my progress. Finally, except for some tiredness and bone achiness I feel fine presently, but know the next half year will have some tougher days. But, as the English woman mystic, Julian of Norwich, wrote in the Middle Ages: "All shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well."
Sincerely in Christ,
Father Rich Colgan, C.S.P.
P.S. When I see you at Mass in March and April, we can only wave to one another; I am not supposed to shake hands or hug.:-)
