During the Christmas season, we long for peace. We want peace in our hearts, peace in our families, peace in our world. As much as we desire peace, we sometimes find it out of reach during this hectic and busy time of year. Through this series, we will look at the unique peace only Jesus can give and how to enjoy his peace this Christmas season and throughout the New Year.

The Giving Tree is an opportunity for you, your family, or other church group to help others this Christmas. SPX will be collecting gifts, gift cards, and financial donations. This mission serves Assumption Parish in S.E. Washington, DC, the Gabriel Network, the Bowie Interfaith Pantry & Emergency Aid Fund and Warm Nights & Domestic Violence Shelters.
Join us for a gingerbread nativity-building party where you’ll enjoy games, singing, hearing the Christmas story and singing some carols on Friday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 pm in Cafe Pius.
The cost is $20 and includes all the supplies needed to make your own gingerbread Nativity as well as refreshments. You definitely don’t want to miss out on all the fun, so be sure to register today!

Have you ever considered Becoming Catholic or do you desire to receive Communion at Mass? Wonder what the process is like? We welcome all: people of all faith backgrounds and people of no formal faith, as well as people baptized as Catholics who have not practiced their faith as adults. We will answer your questions, listen to your story, and work with you in the way that is best for you. No strings attached.

Warm Nights is an interdenominational program in Prince George’s County that provides food and shelter to about 150 homeless adults and children. This year we are being asked to provide bag breakfasts and lunches as well as food items and toiletries. We also collect funds that can be used to provide transportation services and to cover laundromat costs as well as the Easter Basket program. There are many ways to support this mission project.
Jesus knew the best way to form the 12 disciples was to spend time
with them in a group. That is why we offer small groups here at SPX.
Lent is a perfect time to give them a try.
Lenten groups meet for 60 - 90 minutes each week for 5 weeks, starting March 9, either online or in person. We will reflect on our individual Lenten plans, the week's readings, and Fr. Mike's message series, "Let Go and Let God."

The Feast of the Assumption, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Join us for Mass on Friday, August 15 at 9 am in the Church. Mass will not be livestreamed.
Our Sandwich Ministry is an outgrowth of our parish's support of SOME, a soup kitchen in DC. This is a great way to help feed the hungry that can be done at home, perhaps with your family or small group. Sandwiches should be only meat and cheese, sealed in a baggie.
